I have not read all the stories in the series yet, however this is a sequal to the much better "Aprille".
My problem was that the world created in this story was not as interesting as the one previously established. The male charaters were either badly drawn or seemed cruel this time around.
Despite that problem its a very good tale and I am looking forward to reading the other stories. I liked the chess idea very much (and was once involved in a game of strip chess with a girl who didn't know how to play poker) and admire your attention to detail. (8/10)

I haven't reviewed the sextet as they appeared, so this is for the group. The Crucifixion of Annia is separate, more like Faibhar's stories, and good work in that theme. I'd have to read it again to find its connection to the other five. That group forms a coherent set, well planned and written. They are gruesome beyond my imagination, but they are unfortunately realistic in a George Orwell / Aldous Huxley way. Perhaps a science fiction publisher that was daring beyond belief would consider them. Some have wondered whether they are erotica; I don't know, but they are a good, if difficult, read. I wonder what Shirley Jackson would think?

an excelent story with a futuristic theme reminding,of course,Dolckett.and the use of the ancient myth of scheherazade is really admirable.all in all,a story to be thoroughly enjoyed.

WOW! A very nice story! Well written too. Even though I do not know how to play chess I did not loose interest when the game started. Only a more erotic description of the last scene would improve the over-all effect. I liked especially the fact that the players had all names and their characters where somewhat described. Bravo! (9/10)

An interesting idea, and fairly well-executed. In the fine tradition of Dolcett-style snuff stories. Note that I am note saying that this work was inspired by Dolcett, since it feels original to me, but rather that in reading it, I could imagine the Dolcett illustrations to accompany it. (8/10)
