| Synopsis:
The summer I turned 17, I started a diary as a writing exercise. The first couple of months were rather mundane, but things took a dramatic turn right after Labor Day. I recently came across the diary when we were settling my mother's estate. The following is extracted from that diary, edited for readability, and only slightly embellished. I'll follow up with more entries if folks like it.
